futureZINE Final + Evaluation

After a hard time trying to figure out what I wanted my zine to be about I took a step back and thought hard about something personal to me that I could attempt to explain to other people.

Here are a few images of my final zine. I shot my pictures in my back garden because that's my cats playground and it only seemed right to have that as the back drop.

The queen herself with the final zine.

Front cover, the tail is from an inside page, but I think it works well as a addition to the front cover too. The tail can be pushed into the booklet and be hidden.

Front and back shot of the postcard. I didn't want to give any of my details so I will leave the school address on my twitter and instagram.

A double page that hides the middle pages to uncover a hidden Ziggy.

A pouch to hold the postcard in, made of clear plastic.

Postcard inside the pouch.

My zine is a arts and crafts, handmade base, continuous event style. It's also tactile and interactive, I made it that so people would be able to have their own experience and come to their own opinion on my situation. I wanted it to be over a period of time, so I included tweets over the weeks of making the content and using images throughout the time period too. It's childish and silly, much how people have described my behaviour toward the concept that this cat has an alteria motive. The physical zine is like a best of the online content, including pictures and annecdotes. using hashtags and slang so it's  colloquial to the context.
The process of having a passion in 2 weeks was very hard, I had to dig deep in search for something that I could get excited about.

I love arts and crafts and was excited that I could do anything I wanted with my zine. After making about 5 final zines i had to keep improving and using different techniques to get the best result I could. a technique that helped for my final zine, I binded my book whilst it was unfolded and not cut yet, so that the first pages weren't too short making the pages uneven. I couldn't get it perfect but it was a massive improvement from my first attempts. I've been more maticulous about the final result as I was told to have a better quality outcome because its something I struggled with in the past.
Feedback I got from the public is hard to gage. I went to a per store and handed out 2 original copies so it was choosing a different range of people to get their opinion. I asked them to follow my twitter or Instagram and tweet a picture or tweet of what they thought. Or tag me in an Instagram post of them reading the zine. I haven't gotten any information back yet physically except from comments in my Instagram posts, but I'm sure it'll come in due time.  Also i made a postcard for people to send me feedback, although I didn't want to put my personal address, so i've put the information of the Chelsea address on my social media. I would love the postcards to circulate so I've suggested it could also me be used to mail to friends instead, as my information is on the postcard the zine would be advertised.

People also were getting in contact with me on Instagram, and i made a few new cat lover friends! It was good to get some feedback from people all over the internet too! here are a few examples.

The feedback comes in all types, Spanish, Russian and Japanese. Check out the page so see more recent feedback in the comments!

And also a few of the crazy cat people from Instagram pretending to be a cat...
